This Spring, 2026 internship is for a college senior interested in practical experience in digital journalism. The intern will gain hands-on experience and knowledge in a blend of areas including, but not limited to, digital reporting, digital content management and social media. 听
听
At WGNO, the digital news intern will:
路听听听听听听听听 Report and write stories in accordance with Nexstar Media and Associated Press writing standards
路听听听听听听听听 Edit stories
路听听听听听听听听 Post content on our website and manage the website
路听听听听听听听听 Love breaking news and the challenge of reporting a big story
路听听听听听听听听 Create engaging social media content with graphics, wit and timeliness听听
路听听听听听听听听 Be curious and want to learn听
路听听听听听听听听 Possess journalistic integrity听
听
You鈥檒l be expected to:
路听听听听听听听听 Contribute to the editorial process and make solid decisions in breaking news situations
路听听听听听听听听 Ensure that everything we publish meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality
路听听听听听听听听 Research and analyze听background information for a variety of topics. This goes hand in hand with daily reporting and editing
路听听听听听听听听 Pitch on-brand local and trending stories
路听听听听听听听听 Learn and use effective content management
路听听听听听听听听 Be comfortable working with different technology
路听听听听听听听听 Demonstrate top-notch communication skills with co-workers and the public
路听听听听听听听听 Meet the physical demands of the job
路听听听听听听听听 And of course, perform other duties as assigned

Internship details:听
路听听听听听听听听 Interns must be college students in their senior year and will receive college credit for their internship experience
路听听听听听听听听 The student is aware that this is a non-paid internship for Spring, 2026
路听听听听听听听听 Students are expected to obtain and complete any forms necessary to receive college credit
路听听听听听听听听 The intern鈥檚 college academic advisor and institution determine the amount of credit available
路听听听听听听听听 Station department heads will oversee the internship to evaluate, monitor and assess the intern鈥檚 progress and ensure they are receiving the proper training
路听听听听听听听听 The student is responsible for their own transportation
路听听听听听听听听 Each internship requires a minimum of 20 hours per week for 8 weeks
路听听听听听听听听 Upon completion of the internship, the student will be evaluated through a written review by the internship supervisor
