The Preservation ResourceÌýCenter’sÌýCommunications Director createsÌýcontent and curatesÌýthe organization’s public-facing messaging. The role includes serving as the editor of our award-winning, bi-monthly magazine, Preservation in Print; producing and curating the content for our robust social media accounts, our website, e-blasts, and more; disseminating news about the organization and securing media coverage; and managing special communications projects, such as videos, exhibits,Ìýor books. The Communications Director will report to the Executive Director and will work closely with the rest of the senior staff to best understand and share information about the organization.ÌýÌýThe Communications Director will overseeÌýand directÌýthe Website andÌýSocial MediaÌýCoordinator.ÌýÌýÌý

Duties &ÌýResponsibilities: Ìý
- Editor, Preservation in Print MagazineÌý
- Produce six issues of Preservation in Print magazine each year.Ìý
- Curate the Table of Contents for every issue, and secure writers and photographers for all features.Ìý
- WriteÌýstories and content for each issue.Ìý
- Copy edit magazine.Ìý
- Coordinate withÌýtheÌýgraphic designer to getÌýtheÌýmagazine laid out, andÌýtheÌýprinter to get it ordered.Ìý
- Directs website and Social Media Coordinator.ÌýÌý
- Coordinate withÌýtheÌýad salesperson to ensure all ads are placed in the magazine.Ìý
- Curate PRC’s social media content. Provide text and photos to colleagues for posting onÌýInstagram, Facebook, X, YouTube, and other sitesÌý
- CurateÌýPRC’s website. Direct all content forÌýPRCNO.org andÌýstrategize on how to grow the site’s content to best meetÌýthe PRC’sÌýmission.ÌýWork with staff to get fresh content onto the site on a weekly basis.Ìý
- Manage e-blasts and other public outreach.Ìý
- Coordinate outreach and messaging withÌýtheÌýDevelopment Director to ensure a healthy balance of informative content with event andÌýfundraisingÌýpromotion.Ìý
- Secure earned media – get media interviews for PRC’s staff to elevate our public profile, both for events, special initiatives,Ìýand generally, forÌýtopical stories related to historic preservation.Ìý

- Serve as PRC’s press liaison. This includes writing andÌýdisseminatingÌýpressÌýreleasesÌýas necessary.Ìý
- Manage special communications projects, such as videos, new book publications,Ìýand exhibits.Ìý
- Use PRC’s magazine and social media accounts to promote earned revenue initiatives, such as neighborhood tours.Ìý
- Be responsible forÌýall the technological needs of the PRC.ÌýÌý
- Assist other department heads as needed with communications-related initiatives.Ìý
- Assist with PRC events as needed.Ìý

QualificationsÌý& Skills:ÌýÌý
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, marketing, preservation, orÌýa relatedÌýfield.Ìý
- 3 years of professional related experience preferred in writing, editing, and media relations.Ìý
- Knowledge of the New Orleans media landscape and contacts within, preferred.Ìý
- Strong writing skills for variousÌýmediaÌýareÌýessential.Ìý
- Understanding ofÌýsocial media platforms and how to use algorithms to growÌýfollowing, as well as an understanding of web SEO to improve traffic.Ìý
- ProficiencyÌýin Adobe Design Suite and Microsoft Office Suite preferred.Ìý
- Highly organized, with excellent attention to detail.Ìý
- Personable and respectful to others, from team members to constituents.ÌýThe abilityÌýtoÌýget alongÌýwith colleagues and collaborate successfully isÌýa must.Ìý
- Knowledge of historic preservation, architecture, or cultural heritage is a plus. Passion for the mission of the PRC isÌýa must.Ìý

Working ConditionsÌý&ÌýPhysical Requirements:Ìý
- This position is based in New Orleans and requires occasional evening and weekend work to attend PRC events and community activities.ÌýÌý
