SPCH 101 – Fundamentals of Public Speaking

Mrs. Heather Benoit is an instructor of speech at ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ with more than 15 years of experience in education, nonprofit leadership, public speaking, mentorship, and community development. A proud ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ alumna, Heather earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from ÐÓ°É´«Ã½. Returning to ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ as an instructor is a meaningful full-circle moment in her professional journey.

Throughout her career, Heather has worked in a variety of roles supporting students, families, and communities. She has founded two nonprofit organizations, including Beyond the Bell, which provides meaningful learning experiences and support for youth and their families in the community, and Moms of Hope of the Bayou Region, which supports mothers who have experienced infant loss through hope, healing, and philanthropy.

In addition to her work in education and community development, Heather is a published author. Her children’s book, The Gratitude Crayon, was published in December 2024 and reflects her passion for helping children recognize the power of gratitude and perspective.

Heather is passionate about helping students find and use their voices. She believes every person has a story worth telling and that effective communication can create opportunities, strengthen communities, and inspire change.
